Are We In A New Dark Age?
We are technically advanced and sophistcated, but is our ability to think just as advanced or have we entered a dark age of thought? Compare the 19th century -- letters, sermons, books -- with today. You'll find a depth of thought in material addressed to everyday common people (such as in sermons) that far surpasses what we see today in our world of brief sound bytes. Orwell saw the supression of thought resulting from totaliterism (1984), but it appears Huxley was right -- our luxury and easy life has created a dark age of thought.
Why is this important to Christians?
Because, when we consider the universe and what the character of God has to be, it becomes obvious there is a God. But this type of thought is now beyond the capabilities of many people. Not because they are not intelligent enough, but because our technology has resulted in our losing our ability put together serious thoughts and has put us into a new dark age.
