Why Did Christ Die On The Cross?

Because you are a sinner and, for there to be justice, the penalty for your sins had to be paid. To pay that price God gave His Son.

So it is you (because you are a sinner) who killed Christ.

I killed Christ.

The penalty for sin -- for disobeying God -- is death, and the penalty had to be paid. Because we disobey God, WE OWE THAT PENALTY. WE are under the death penalty. But because God loves us so much, He saved us from having to pay the penalty for our sins and instead, His Son Jesus paid the penalty for us.

Jesus died so that we might live. Jesus died to give us eternal life. You can have that eternal life by saying YES to Jesus. Say, "Yes, you are my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Thank you for giving your life for me."

Why is Jesus Lord and Savior? Because Jesus is God. The death of an ordinary man on the cross would not have paid the penalty for our sins. Only God, giving Himself for us, giving Himself to die on the cross, could pay the penalty for all our sin. What greater love can there be? No matter who you are or what you have done, God gave His son to die so that YOUR sins are forgiven.
