Gay Marriage & The Civil Rights Movement

Some are saying that the movement in favor of gay marriage and homosexual "rights" is the same as the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's. But that's not true.

The Civil Rights Movement brought us into greater obedience to God. Nothing in the Bible says that having a different skin color is a sin. Nothing in the Bible says that we should discriminate based on how someone looks. It was our sinful human desires that brought about slavery and discrimination based on what someone looks like. The Civil Rights Movement changed this, brought us closer to God, and moved us away from sin. That was good.

On the other hand the movement toward gay marriage is moving us toward sin and away from God. Homosexuality is condemned as a sin by the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. By allowing gay marriage we are saying that homosexuality is an acceptable behavior. Unlike the Civil Rights Movement, we are turning our backs on God and embracing sin. Just like in the past when men embraced slavery and discrimination based on skin color, our society is again embracing its sinful human desires when we accept homosexual behavior.
