The Passion of Christ

I saw this film last Thursday. It is an emotional film, and everyone has there own personal reaction to it. I saw a love story. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.

Most people in America believe they will go to heaven because they are good people. They think they haven't done anything really bad, and surely God, a loving God, will not condemn them for a few mistakes. HOWEVER, if this is true, then what we see in the movie The Passion was for no purpose--Christ's suffering and death on the cross did not need to have happened.

The problem is that we ARE ALL SINNERS. Breaking just the smallest law of God is the same as breaking them all. Why? Because sin can not exist in the presence of God. Anyone coming into the presence of God must be totally pure and free of all sin. Even the smallest sin condemns us. The only two options are to be totally free of sin or be totally and forever separated from God (this is called hell).

WE ARE ALL SINNERS. WE HAVE ALL SINNED. NO ONE IS PERFECT.

So how can we enter heaven and have eternal life with God? Because Jesus took on himself the penalty for our sins. He died so that we don't have to die. His blood washes us clean of our sins, making us pure and able to enter God's presence in heaven.

What a wonderful gift!

A gift that is available to everyone who wants it. God gives us what we want. If we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior, He freely gives us the gift of His sacrifice on the cross. If we do not wish to believe in Jesus Christ, turning our backs on him, He gives us what we want--eternal separation from Him (eternal death). It's our choice--we can accept Jesus' gift of eternal life or choose death (eternal separation from God).
