What Is Hell?
What is hell?. Many Christians (39%), say that hell is only separation from God. That is true, and it doesn't really sound so bad. But, let's think about that.
God, through His common grace (common grace is God's grace given to us all) is currently restraining the effects of sin (Satan) on earth. For example, in 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 we read:
"And you know what is holding him [the man of sin] back..."
So if we are separated from God in hell, that means that in hell there will be no restraint on sin. No, that does not mean there is an eternal party (the party and good times are in heaven). It means that hell is filled with unrestrained sin.
What will unrestrained sin be like? Well, who is Satan? He is the father of lies. In part, it appears that hell will be a place of eternal lies, cheating, backstabbing, and all types of evil--all directed AT YOU, if you have not chosen to trust Jesus for your salvation. Hell is not a pleasant place.
