Does Christianity Want To Rule America?

Alexander Campbell was a Christian preacher in America in the first half of the 19th century. He was involved in several debates on the evidences for Christianity, the most famous of which was his debate with the atheist Robert Owen. Alexander Campbell's life is portrayed in the film "Wrestling With God". The following is a quote from the debate as portrayed in that film. I think it expesses our Founding Father's intentions, and it clearly describes Christianity.

Mr. Campbell is addressing his remarks to the atheist Robert Owen:

"This great nation was not founded for an individual to impose his own faith on another. Nor is Christianity so insecure that it needs to impose itself. I'm not fighting for you to accept my answers, but for you to have the right to find your own."
